Have you done any good in the world today? If not click here!

Often I hear this song in my head.  I like to think it is the spirit talking to me letting me know it is time to serve.
This is what we did today to put a tiny speck of sunshine on the universe.

Laundry 101

What is laundry? Does it have to be dirty to be called laundry?

My definition of laundry is all the hundreds of pieces of clothing I have to deal with everyday. Especially now with season change it is like double duty. I have to rotate the 4 kids... Ugh...major pain in the *********

Seriously....I have been in #2's room trying to sort her clothes out for 2 days now. She feels the need to have her mother "deal with" her "laundry" every couple of months. Come on child I never did anything like that to my mom...well if you don't remember it's telling the truth right? So I get the laptop and entertain myself by watching TV shows like ...Coach (so funny i am on season 7 now) and just watched the entire season of Blush today. Now this is not a good thing for little miss me because then I sit down and zoom in. I convince myself it is break-time (which lasts about 2 hours) a little too often.

First it starts with standing and moving about the room, then I will sit and fold, sort or toss, lastly I find myself chilly so I must crawl under the covers for just a few minutes until the show is over. Well I can't watch my show unless I have a cold one, and maybe something salty, no it must be sweet and salty (Hershey Bar, pretzels and Diet Coke for lunch). Now I am sleepy going on 1:30 only and hour before #2 gets off the bus. Crap need to get shut eye, but one more show. MOM, I'm home....poop I didn't rest enough ...ice water will get me going...yeah right. Drink it down, walk around, move here there and everywhere. HOly Toledo #1 is home put the jets on time is ticking ...now #3 and 4.

Did anything get done here today?

Therefore my friends tomorrow will be "laundry 102". Pictures to follow camera on the fritz right now.

Oh and btw Mr. HOtty Sunbeam (iron) is no longer a member of this family. Thank goodness for Mr. Downy W. R. to who smooths out my creases.

Mr. Kenmore update....

Yes, he did it to me AGAIN! I opened him up and the *&#$!! thing was dirty!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!

Some of you may know I hurt my back last week and it has been very difficult to do my job around here. Well, I'm not complaining too much, lying in bed with a warm heating pad has been a joy! ... anyway I haven't been able to do the dishes too much so they are backed up as everything else is too....laundry, dust, trash... you think that I was the only one who lived here.

(B has been working his butt off so he is off the hook).

Then Mr. Kenmore has to go and leave me high and dirty.

Brian has no idea yet and wait till he finds out. We don't have the moo la to get new one right now, so what am I going to do?

For all you women out there I know you feel my pain. I feel abandoned, seriously how am I going to cope...paper plates? Should I just close the kitchen? No food for you kids if you can't find it packaged with preservatives in the pantry you are out of luck...buttered popcorn anyone?

Stupid appliances...dear Lord thank you for my luxuries in life, I would have never survived this far with out them!

signing out,

LAZY MOM

How are you going to celebrate Columbus Day?

I woke up today saying to myself... woman, how are you going to celebrate Columbus Day?

Feeling a close connection to Chris ya know being

50% Italian 25% Polish and 25%Mutt =100% AMERICAN

I felt the need to celebrate this day as all Americans should do.

It started with ...the 5:30am scream...MOM did you see where I put my red folder? I can't find it I have to go my seminary ride is here...light flips on ..have you seen it? UGH.

Round 2....6:15am...MOM can you help me with my project I can't find any current events...Uhhh haven't you heard of the WWW?

Round 3...7:45am....Crap we over slept ...get up get up get up!!!

Now, I was so excited to celebrate this day that I turned to the good ole eHOW to find other ways to celebrate this glorious day.
I chose #5 sounds delicious!

we will do #6 as a family tonight, just after I get done with sewing the costumes and building the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria out of the wood we have in the stored in the garage.

#5
Prepare a dinner based on standard seamen's fare of the 15th century, such as salted fish, beef and pork; olive oil; molasses; cheese; honey; raisins; rice; garlic; almonds and dried legumes

#6
Have the kids stage a skit based on the voyage.

15 years .... what?

Yes my friends it has been 15years since the B-man and I have tied the knot. Yesterday, the 8th (seriously, would I gotten married on any other day) was a day of reflection...that was my true intention. I looked at the picture of our wedding day does that count?

B had off and we thought oh goodie a day of fun. Ain't it funny when you set your expectations too high. This year my expectations were much lower. I figured the Hawaii trip was out maybe next year. The ring reset in platinum with emerald baguettes on either side was far fetched as well. PF Chang was already visited this month due to a severe craving that could not be tamed...so I stayed in bed a little while longer, not expecting anything cause I didn't ask. See I have to ask then I get what I want...sometimes it has to be said in BOLD TYPE but he usually gets the picture. Who ever came up with the idea that men are mind readers? Why would our minds ever go there? We (us women) are the intelligent species we can read minds not them. Right?

Still in bed I call him...yes...on my cell to his cell...yes.. he is down stairs...yes...I was still in bed

me.....what are we doing today?

B....I don't know what do you want to do?

Me....I don't know (wanting him to read my mind..duh)

B....how about a movie?

Me...What is playing?

B...he reads off movies I haven't heard of and first one starts at 130...ugh
me...I don't know (wasn't in the mood for a movie...Cheesecake factory!!!!YUM)
....Do you want to go eat?

Me...I guess you choose (oh please Cheesecake Factory)

B...How about Stoney River..(an expensive steakhouse that doesn't open until 4)

Me...I don't think they are open.

B...Um mm (I really want steak that is all I ever want a nice juicy expensive steak)

Me...call me later (yes, still in bed upstairs)

I pulled the covers over my head...another year gone by and the best communication is via phone. I laughed at myself for a second for even thinking that, but who cares at least we are communicating right!

About an hour later I decide to text him...

B was down stairs ripping Mr. Kenmore a new one for dying on me twice. His parts were all over the kitchen floor my man was determined to give his wife a dishwasher that worked on the 15th wedding anniversary.

Me...what's up?

B...nothing

Me..what are we doing?

B...I don't know

Me...? (for real buddy can't you see I want you to read my mind CHEESECAKE FACTORY) How about we go somewhere you like to eat ( that was so nice of me huh)

B... rattling off steakhouses ..blah blah blah..Oh how about we go watch the Phillies play on a big screen.

Me...(he did not..yes he did) Sure, but really not in the mood for fried food

B...Uhhh ( why not?)

Me....I'll CALL you back

Jump in the shower, putz around the bedroom moving things from one place to another, dressed and ready to go.

He comes up ... are you ready?

Uh yeah...where are we going?

I don't know

Get in the car and drive to Cool Springs...head to an Irish Pub which of course has the big projector TV and 3 flat screens with the baseball game on, fried food, and
quality time with my man of 15years.

Oh and yes my man won! Mr. Kenmore is working and he threatened to kick him to the curb if he ever did that to his wife again.

What's in your Pocket?

Did you ever really look at what is in your pocket.... NO not your jean pocket silly, your pocket pocket.

Okay, I pulled out of my pocket today my memories of Matthew from way back when...14 years ago. Today we were lying on my bed just hanging out. Well let me back up...the kids are grounded from screens until further notice so I am not sure if he was hanging out or trying to get me to change my mind...anyway...back to my pocket.

I thought of how he was once an infant so little, wrapped in a blanket helpless relying on his mother for EVERYTHING. Then my mind went to toddler and little boy years...yes I was teary eyed... as I was stroking his hair i realized his head is bigger than mine. Holy Crap how did that happen it was only 14 years ago that I had this child lying in my arms. Slow down Mr. Time I need to regroup and take a moment to digest what I just pulled out of my pocket.

Love my first little boy who now towers me from above.

I am so glad I reached into my pocket today...so my question is for you

What's in your pocket?

Leftovers

I am the first to say I am not "a cook" nor do I enjoy cooking so Brian tends to make the dinners and I try to serve the leftovers. Call me what you want it... is what it is.

So Johnny was so starving yesterday. I quickly heated the spaghetti up in the microwave...ugh. By the time I turned around he was digging in.

I said " Johnnyboy did you bless your food?"
Johnnyboy turned around with spaghetti all over his face and said "Mom, Dad made it yesterday"

just updating

My Sister's 07/09
Michele,me,Wendy,Rebecca,Nicole
Love em!

Did you ever just get up one morning and say
"I'm gonna do that?"

1)-woke up one day and said lets drive east about 15 hours straight through..packed the bags and in 3hours we were in the car arrived furthest east at the Jersey Shore just in time to wake up Grandma from her sleep...Surprise!

2) Decided i am going to sleep when I am tired. I deserve to sleep or nap when I am tired without feeling guilty, hey my body needs it just like it needs a good drink from time to time...achem...diet coke's are a treat now not an everyday thing.

3)Did not get mad a Johnny when we drove into town the day before school started to get last minute things and he had no shoes. I said "oh well buddy get on my back". No fighting or getting mad so proud of myself for just brushing it off. What's done is done ,we shopped at Costco and Tuesday Morning's with no shoes.

Back in the hood

Thanks to everyone for the hip-hip-horray.
My first week back to motherhood was not what I expected. My baby (Matthew 13) went off to camp for a week and I was not prepared. We packed well at least tried to pack. I think I get the trophy for the worst packer EVER which makes me so even more thankful I married the
B-man.....off he went to scout camp

Well the Lord has his ways of making me forget missing my boy. Get a call from work letting me know that they screwed up and tell me I don't have health insurance...ha sick joke I thought. Figured I would deal with it the next day...sick joke for real got some nasty bug that put me in bed for 4 days without knowing what day it was when I woke up ... and he was home.

So my game plan for this week of "back in the hood" get the kids in order. What was I thinking. They ran the house for the past week and now I expect to take charge.

1st mistake-getting rid of cable the day after I am alive again...what was i thinking no nick&disney...what is life with out spongebob and wizards of waverly
2nd mistake- taking the playstation, gamecubes games to Gamestop to declutter the home
3rd mistake- expecting to get back into the hood after 6 months...lol

Calling it...shout out...hip-hip-horray

Made an executive decision based on the following criteria:

1) Full-time working mother of 4 is just not for me
2) Johnnyboy's sad eyes every time I say I have to work today is killing me
3) Money isn't everything
4) Happiness comes first
5) Summer-time is meant to spend with your kids not at an office desk
6) The company will survive with out me (although I was nominated for call of the month, thank you very much)
7) Home needs order
8) Comfort from above knowing I am doing the right thing....priceless

Last day July 8th...didn't plan for the "8" thing you know it just happened to work out...freaky

Here comes the sun

I want to label this post and I thought of this song because it fits our lives right now to a T. If you didn't know our great news ..........
BRIAN GOT A JOB!!!!!

We are so happy this 9 month ordeal is finally over. Both Brian and I have full-time jobs ( who would have thought that would happen...not me). We are finally able to breathe in and out again. We are humbled by the whole experience and know we have gone through this for many reasons unknown.

Everyone kept telling us to hang it there it won't be forever...he will get a job. But the blinders of life were on and I couldn't see the beginning, middle, or end of the mess. It wasn't until I let go of trying to manage the situation and realize that I was working ...he wasn't right now... and It is what it Is... the Lord would provide.
It was amazing I let go.... he got an interview... and a job the next day.

Was it really that easy? Why did our little family have to go through this?
I have stopped asking those questions and am now feeling the sunshine the joy and happiness.
Here comes the Sun...do do do do ...Here comes the Sun....It's all right!

Growth

I am grateful for the gospel in my life, for the love the Savior has for me. I felt strongly to share this with whomever will read.

Amongst the four children who were being children, the spirit found a way to touch me. To open my heart to the teachings of the Lord.

I learned or should I say relearned that Faith and Fear can not co-exist. Similar to a mother seeing her child take her first steps, I know my Savior is so pleased with what I have learned today. I moved forward taking just a baby step (although it feels so huge words cannot explain it). I have been filled with tears of joy and happiness. Feelings that I have not felt in a long time. My family witnessed my growth and the spirit in our home today. I know that this experience can never be taken away from us, for time and all eternity.

after conference was over I could not hold back the tears of joy anymore Johnny then said "mama go lay down and rest"....my sweet boy

Waking up cranky

HMMM I wonder why.....first thing I hear is MOM can you wipe my butt. So I get to the cube and I am a cranky little girl. Wanted to stay in bed this morning, rainy cold, ect... So my neighbor in the cube next to me says here try this a reflex ball for your feet. (she noticed I was dragging) so I put my socks on and rolled it around.
Not sure if it worked because it might have been the diet coke I pounded a few minutes after. Any way I am sure I will crash by four but that is why man made Excedrin.

The Cube

Monday, Monday Monday........back to the cube. That is the new name for my m-f life "the cube". My cube is set up with a phone two flat screen monitors, a keyboard, mouse, fancy gel mouse pad, a chair that goes up and down round and round, earphones with a microphone (pretty cool huh), a shelf to put my books on and 3 drawers. In those drawers are
Top: some mints, a spoon, lunch if i pack it, some change, mustard pack, my keys, cell phone, crystal light lemonade mix, salt and pepper, nuts, chapstick, and maybe a piece of hard candy
Middle: papers of info galore, Yoga magazine, EveryDay food magazine, People magazine, and page protectors
Bottom: File folder, my sneakers(for walks outside), a mini medicine kit, Excedrin(a must), Lysol wipes a must every Monday is the wipe down day for me.

Under the cube is my big red ball, sometimes I sit on it and other times I use it as a foot rest. I once almost took a spill so I hold on tight to the cube.

On my cube I have a jar with Kisses(also a must) I have 3 high lighters blue yellow and pink, 3 black pens and one nice scrapbooking pen ( not sure why). My basket has 3 types of lotions 2 pads of paper, lip balm, and a post it pad. I have two coasters from Hawaii, had sanatizer, and a box of tissues

I have a name plate Cheryl Keegan and put a palm tree hanging next to it so I don't forget to dream. I have information blasted all over the cube to help me remember things all I have to do is look and there it is.

My shelf has 3 binders on it and 3 magnets the kids made 3 pictures of our family 1 of Johnny boy smiling at me. I have my old Gap name badge up there too.

And the best thing of all is my corner of the cube that reminds me of why I am there everyday.

A letter from my Matthew (13)

Dear Mom
Thank you for putting us before yourself
Thank You for working and supporting our home.
Thank You for loving me

I love you mom
Matt

Truely priceless

Happy Spring

New Jersey Shore
December 2008

Spring is this week and I can hardly keep my feet warm. After church Johnny and I snuggled to keep each other warm. I sure hope old man winter leaves soon. I don't know about you, but I get the winter blues. I found an article in a Yoga Magazine that made me think differently.
It said to think of rain as cleansing not dreary, and to think of winter as hibernation not cold and never ending.
I guess I should look on the bright side of things, we could be living further north where winters last much longer than here.
Here is an update on our family. Brian ( I hate to use finally), but finally completed his RN requirements for the lovely state of TN. He called on Friday and it was sitting under a pile of papers waiting to be processed. How's that for having your life in someonelse's hands. He applied to Vanderbilt and we shall see. I am still working 11-8 and still not use to the full-time thing and juggling life and mother-hood and me-time. I am grateful for everyone who has us in their prayers because we feel the prayers working. The Lord is looking over us. I know it seems I have been a grouch lately , anti-social, ect.... hopefully if you love me you can over look my weaknesses. The kids are learning about how life can be rough early one. The are adjusting and coping better than I thought they would. They miss their Mom and hopefully someday it will all work out the way it should...what ever that is.
Happy Spring

Peace

For many months now I have been toiling over what to pray for. As I was teaching my primary class on Sunday it was revealed.
Joseph Smith had an argument with Emma one day then went on to translate the Book of Mormon. He found that he was unable to translate so he went to pray. He prayed to have peace with his wife. He went back to her and had his peace then was able to transcribe again.(this is not word for word)

So i almost began to cry in front of my class because that was a message for me from the Lord. I need to be at peace especially with my husband. All of my internal turmoil can be settled if I just pray for peace. Last night I did. I prayed and sobbed and prayed only for peace and now I know what my Heavenly Father wants me to pray for... peace. I am slowly seeing more clearly and have much more to learn from this situation, but peace is with me.

I now understand why the Lord puts us through these trails he wants us to learn. Such simple things, yet so complicated we make it, forcing against what should come so easy to us. Then when we comprehend what was to be learned it is so clear.
May someone out there learn from my peace experience

She works hard for the money.....

and the family pays the price. Most of you know I am now working full-time so our family can survive these crappy times. I am very grateful to have a job that has benefits and a steady income. Just yesterday I realized that I need to acknowlege that it may be like this for longer than I thought. I am not GOD nor will I wver be able to change the universe. I can't make things happen and certainly can't waste my thoughts and energy on trying. It is what it is ...yes I am very sad and cry a lot, but chose this life and picked my path. So cry I will and laugh it away becasue it is out of my hands.

Have a great week and be thankful you are in the position you are. Becasue .....

IT IS WHAT IT IS

btw a nice friend thought of me today and gave me a palmtree paper weight for my little cubical desk. Thanks ..... it will make it easier just looking at it and knowing someone is pulling for me during my down times

To be or not to be?

That is the question of the week.

Let me back up and give the whole story.

When we got back from our holiday excursion I saw a position for a Health Coach on my email. So I said to the dear Lord above, it is in your hands and if they call me you gotta give me the strength to do it. Three days later the call came...me why would they call me? I am a Gap Girl, definitely qualified for the position, but me? The hours sucked to say the least 2p-10p. He asks me does this sound like something you would be interested in? The words came out before I knew what was happening...Sure! Sounds Great! ....Oh my I forgot 4 kids, but that was after the fact I had hung up.

I wrote down the pros and cons talked to my peeps and thought hmmm.....steady income good pay excellent benefits and boost in self-esteem. When the hubby hasn't had an interview in over 3 months it is almost stupidity not to go for it.

Today, I sweat about 10 lbs before during and after the interview. Hem of the skirt torn but that was the only glitch. I think I did well and thank all of you for your support and prayers. If it is to be the Lord will present it to me and the comforter will let me know. So, I am just going to let the ball roll and see where it stops.

Change in coming

as for the pix Johnny liked it so I put it on....

Happy Family

God has blessed us with 4 wonderfully happy children who brightened my day today.
So live tomorrow as it is you last and what a difference it makes.
A special thanks to my helper in life Cindy who suggested I think like I had cancer..again..and today was my last day.
What really counts clean dishes or happy faces?
