Murphy's Law?

"Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong," or, "Whatever can go wrong will go wrong, and at the worst possible time, in the worst possible way." The saying is sometimes referred to as Sod's law or Finagle's law.

Quantization Revision of Murphy's Laws
Everything goes wrong all at once
I am not sure what Murphy's Law is or if that what this family has, but it seems to be knocking at our door and I think we are contaminated. Dishwasher broke and for those who don't know the latest is I broke my ankle or actually a ligament pulled a piece of bone off the bone. Pain is all I know and drugs are my friend.
My stupid boot got caught on the edge of the driveway and no hands to catch the fall, of course I had a dress on and the missionaries and children were standing there watching and hearing the lovely kind words coming from my trap. Oh I thought that it was a bad sprain, but my dear friend insisted I go get an x-ray. Sure enough...well at least it is a removable cast and I should heal in a couple of weeks.
So my question is this Murphy's Law and if it is does faith the sanitizer for it. I know that I am trying and feel grateful for what we have and that we are in a nice safe warm home. I just will have to laugh at the next thing Murphy brings to our door step cause the GAME IS ON!

Thanksgiving plans ruined

....all because of a computer glitche. Oh, the GAP computer system did not take my request for time off that I put in 3 weeks ago. So therefore I have to work this week and for those who did not see my lovely face and shining spirit today at church..achem gag.. I was at work. Yes, 7am busting boxes for the GAP makin' pennies to feed my kids and my habit(dc).

Why? What is the freakin' lesson from this? Don't spend time with your family?

Now I have to plan Thanksgiving dinner for the kids and Brian. Ugh, does anyone know where the nearest soup kitchen is?

hi there

I guess you could say that a little heater can make you feel a little better. I work 6 days a week and at the end of a cold day like today I sit and watch tv with a little heater blasting beside me. Can't say it makes my problems go away, but it warms me up.
I do have a husband that puts up with my selfishness, sitting in my room under a blanket alone with the tv on a Sat night. Well I am a working woman that does justify it don't ya think.

My thanks today are my kids are healthy very healthy thank you Lord for that.

New Posting

I am not sure why I am even writing this enrty. Maybe because I need to express myself and I want to let it all out. I am not sure how our family has survived these past few months being unemployeed. If you think your life sucks try not having and income and not knowing how you are going to feed your kids tomorrow or put clothes on them or keep them in a warm house. Yes I know everyone had their troubles, but these are mine and I have a right to be upset and fustrated and mad and sad and angry and troubled and hopeless and wondering, and I guess thankful in the end. I am thankful that we are still alive and healthy and somewhat together. I am grateful for all those angels who work for my savior, who pray for my family and give their unconditional love and support to my family. It is mightly hard being on this side of the track, it is easier for me to give then recieve.
I am not a holiday person which makes it 10x worse going through this challenge in our situation. I am too old for this and if it wasn't for my kids I might not be sticking around. So I go on trying to be in the moment for that is all I can do

My Street Fighting Man

I had to change my husbands song to a "Stones" song of course. We are big Rolling Stones fans so I went through and tried to pick out a song...then there it was Street Fighting Man...only because of the name.

Here is the story...
It was a dark night in the streets of Philly... 2am... there he was sitting in a Denny's with a few of the guys after a long night at the Domino (local achem..bar). Joking around, being the kind-a guy B he decided to do the fork trick and there it went flying across the room. Guess what happened next.
The fork just happened to hit a table with a group of Big Men of the African descent (probably not politically correct but I tried). Well they came over and confronted the culprit. In an instant the sucker punch was launched. The brawl began fists flying, food flinging, old ladies screaming, and cops coming.
Like a flash of a light B and his friends escaped with out penality....except for the black eye....

The next day was the day B was coming to meet my parents, I was 19 and he was 24, and there it was the BLACK EYE. Can't remember what the little white lie it was to cover it up, but it worked he passed inspection. I'm sure my Dad didn't fall for it he just knew that my "Street Fighting Man" was the one for me!

4th of July or Battle of Spring Hill?

Yeah we made the trip to the big Spring Hill Fireworks Display, being from a big city like Philly didn't expect much. Last 4 years we were on the beach watching the fireworks all around us:(
This year we went to "Battle of Spring Hill " hill to get eaten alive by TN BUGS. Got the kids settled and off the works went....
B and I turned then turned around and HOLY CRAP you could see a display that is bigger than anything imaginable. It was so amazing...we couldn't believe that it was legal to shoot off fireworks like that just anywhere, the whole horizon was on lit up, so much better that we decided to watch that instead...sad huh

Driving home my B just had to reenact "the Battle", so the windows went down and out the rifle went. Yes he is watches too much History Channel crap. Just today he said that he a had a dream he was drilling a bullet to deactivate it, I guess it is better than dreaming of "girly girls". Every time a bang went of he would shoot...until I got my cannon out and shot him dead. It was a wonderful reenactment of the battle I must say.

I think it is about time the mayor put a lid on the open fireworks here...just a little scary don't ya think?

ITALIAN PASTA TRADITIONS

Ok we had easy easy easy pasta for dinner and thank goodness most of my food storage contains

PASTA

&

SAUCE

As I was so easily making dinner tonight I remembered the one time my older sister and I tried an old Italian Tradition which is to toss the pasta at the wall if it sticks it is done. Well we got a little crazy and tossed it on the ceiling and walls and cabinets. It left markings on the ceiling that left some unsightly marking that my father was not too happy about.

I paused as I was going to share this tradition with Johnny tonight...might want to wait on that.

ENJOY MY ITALIAN PASTA MAKING INFO...feel free to print out it is helpful

It is said that Marco Polo traveled to China and brought back to Italy pasta..not noodles

It is also said that he learned how to make pasta from his Chinese mistress rolling the noodles to bigger and wider sizes

.....hmmm i believe the latter

There are over 150 major varieties of pasta today...yahoo for us! carb city

PASTA ETIQUETTE

Don't shame us Italians

Eat only with a fork and in a warm shallow bowl then twirl on side with your fork

Measuring

longer pasta....1inch diameter = 2cups cooked

others like elbow, shells, rotini,ziti....1 cup = 2.5 cups cooked

HOW TO COOK

Use cold water...always...bc hot water dissloves anything that is in the pipes including traces of LEAD and RUST (need I say more)

YES add salt, but after the water has started to boil this will dissolve it quickly...and will boil faster ...good info huh

NO OIL...pasta needs to stick to sauces and use WOODEN SPOON

CookIng TimE

Throw pasta at a wall ~Yes, this really does work!

You can test pasta for doneness by throwing a piece of it at the wall. If it sticks, it's done!

Of course, you could also taste it to test for doneness, but that wouldn't be as dramatic.

DON'T RINSE

Do NOT rinse unless the recipe says to do so

The starch that makes the pasta stick to itself also helps the sauce stick to the pasta.

If you're going to toss the pasta with the sauce immediately, sticking shouldn't be a problem.

DO ENJOY

With you favorite sauce or (gravy as some Italian's call it)

Another on Bites the Dust

Matt and Johnny in my bed watching TV

I had and great birthday got all your presents and I thank you.

So, the TV thing...had to lay down some rules.

  1. My bedroom is NOT the family room

  2. Cheeta Girls 2 will not stay recorded on MY DVR

  3. MY Bed is NOT the couch

  4. MY TV is NOT to be turned on by anyone but me and maybe your father ( i actually caught one of them lounging on my bed flipping through the channels while I cleaned their crappy bathroom..Wrong)

  5. You are invited in only the week that I am not PMS-ING

Other than the few tweaks, I LOVE IT...Renee, I say go for it girl we are old enough or should I say the kids are old enough. Lets enjoy life while its here!

Humble Parent Day

I want to share something that happened today that really made me think. A best friend of mine from High School passed away last evening. She was 36 years old and died one day after giving birth to her third child. Last August she delivered full-term twins that were stillborn, and has two girls at home. As I muttle through the why's and how's I look at my children and awe that I get to touch them, kiss them, be a mommy to them, wink at them, play games with them, watch movies with them, give them ice cream and candy, wash their hands and faces at night, and kiss them on the forhead knowing I will sbe with them when they wake up. My dear friend is not here anymore for those little souls. A newborn will never know the soft touch of her mother's hand. So if you do one thing today, please remember

to be a Humble Parent.

Life is precious!

4 minutes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TN7s1q3L-S0

Well I think you need to check this video out. Madonna has the same corset on as she did in Like a virgin video...it just faded a bit.
Nothing like seeing a 50 yr old woman dancing around like a girl again. She owes it all to Yoga...I knew I was doing it for a good reason.
Check out Timber's rear....mighty fine....
But come on if there were only 4 minutes left to save the world, don't cha think dancing on tables and cars might be Procrastinating!

I Just Heard This on the News!!!

How to Stop Procrastinating...yeah right

So I found this atricle while looking for my FYI Friday post.

Today was the 3rd day of my pantry procrastination! I love it! I don't have to clean, I don't have to cook, I don't have to sweep..... Yahoo! I get to go up into my hide away (my bedroom) to escape from it all.

Was it a coinkidink that I ran across this article or a sign from up above to kick it into gear? Not sure yet. See I am the type of peron who is all or nothing. I do it right the first time because there is no going back. Once I put the cereal boxes in, they will stay there forever..esp if it is bran flakes.

So am I a procrastiner no I don't think so...Is it OCD...no not that....Hum....lets chew on this before we come up with a diagnosis.
I'll run this by my therapist and get back you on it. Brian's diagnosis is JPN (just-plain-nuts)

Think about why you procrastinate:
Are you afraid of failing at the task?
Are you a perfectionist and only willing to begin working after every little element is in place? Are you easily distracted?
Step2 Break up a large, difficult project into several smaller pieces. Tackle each piece separately.
Step3 Set deadlines for completion. Try assigning yourself small-scale deadlines ' for example, commit to reading a certain number of pages in the next hour.
Step4 Work in small blocks of time instead of in long stretches. Try studying in one- to two-hour spurts, allowing yourself a small break after each stint.
Step5 Start with the easiest aspect of a large, complex project. For example, if you're writing an academic paper and find that the introduction is turning out to be hard to write, start writing the paper's body instead.
Step6 Enlist others to help. Make a bet with your family, friends or co-workers that you will finish a particular project by a specified time, or find other ways to make yourself accountable.
Step7 Eliminate distractions or move to a place where you can concentrate. Turn off the television, the phone ringer, the radio and anything else that might keep you from your task
.
Seriously are you easily distracted..Duh 4 kids a dog a husband life..
I like get rid of the distraction and enlist others to help, come on over and fix my panrty youz guys!

Atlanta or Bust!

I knew the day had to come so I seized the Saturday. During my escape to Florida (mental breakdown#1) I kind of went off the deep end and spent some money, in Atlanta on the way home. I guess I needed one last umph before heading back to reality.
THE CONTAINER STORE...Have you ever been? All I have to say in ELFA...
If you have never been you must try and find one. Of course they are not here in TN, why would they come here. Just like Nordstroms, Ikea,Wawa(for you eastern girls), ect.. The store is just overwhelming with storage. I wraps you tight and before you know it $, while Dave Ramsay is in the the other shoulder saying do you really need that or is it just a want. Ugh. So I got home with the stuff and 3/4 of it needed to go back. I guess my organization mind was outta wack too.
Got my mom on board to watch the klan and off we went with no back seats in the van.(Get your mind out of the gutter, we do that in our closet, not the van) Yes, Brian was on board too and with the seats out there is no holding back. The purpose take the goods back and spend 5x more than you did the first time, but bring the measurements this time idiot.
More or less the day went well and Brian and I had great bonding time. We laughed and giggled at the stupidist things. When you've been together as long as we have you get this mental communication going. Bri looked and me and I knew exactly what he was thinking. ....that is a man.... DING... This Hething that wanted to be a Shething walked in the store and rudely bagan talking to the person that was waiting on us. So Brian (Mr.Don't Hide Anything So You Can Embarrass Your Wife) decides to make the high voice the Hething/Shething was trying to make. Picture this, Brian is facing He/She and I am giving him the eyes "stop He/She can hear you" I whispered. This person was obviously clueless or it wouldn't be dressed like a woman. He said look at those hands. I whispered Hush! Duh that just fueled the fire..Finally after he got it all out of his system 5 min latter he said "So, If I ever want to become a woman all I have to do is get rid of my Adam's Apple." .....Oh no hunny you would have to get rid of a lot more that that..Ha! Mr. Hairy man
So there is still hope in the Keegan Family. It is all in a good day's work . Come my friends covet...da da da daah.. MY NEW PANTRY! It is beautiful and I may make it my new get away place since we probably spent all our vacation money on it. I think I will have to paint some palm trees on the walls. I haven't yet put anything in it, that would mean I have to clean the kitchen. So, all you organizing guru's out there...I need help.....don't know where to begin ....too much space....thought those words would never come out of my mouth.
No,I think I just have irritable organizational disorder.

You Guys made me cry. You know the Lord blesses us in many ways. To hear you kind words about my stupid words was a blessing in disguise.

I got a post that you can't see from a friend in Cali that us to lived in Phila when we were there. I had no idea she was reading my poopy notes on this blog. She actually said that it brought back memories of ole times. So ding the light went on . Maybe my silly music and imaginary thoughts help others. Not all of it is about me. Selfish fool, oopsI just said that out loud but used the "b" word that is ok no one is home and I needed to let go.

I am not sure what will be next, but since this helps you have better day, may I continue.
(sounded good huh!)

Please don't :

Look and my grammar and laugh

Ever feel negative after reading my junk

But do:

Enjoy the music, because all these songs have a meaning to me. ( when i figure out how to get it back)

Listen to them and start to dance

Enjoy the day even if it is raining

Say anything to make your friend have a happy day (selfish but i need it)

Just Wondering

I was wondering what your High School Prom song was. Just listening to Stairway to Heaven and no that wasn't mine but at every dance I danced to it. And yes, "made-out" during it because it was so long. Well the teachers did break it up but we tried.

So here is mine "You Are Everything" by the Stylistics

Time to get the LED out

For all of you Led Zepplin fans out there here are a few of my favs. Brian and I watched the concert last night from the early 70's it was fab. I think I should have been a flower child I think I would enjoy not worrying about anything, whip the boob out feed the 5 year old, travel in a volkswagon van with the peace sign on it, smoke a doobie or too, feel nothing all the time.

I am sure that is not why the Lord chose me to be born then, too easy for me.

I really feel like I am not suppose to be here in Tenn. I was suppose to be born on a tropical island living off the fresh fruits among the one of my favorite things my palm trees. Surrounded by crystal clear waters of the vast ocean, the cool ocean breeze with the wonderful smell of the salt water. Feet in the warm sand looking at the horizon waiting for the sun to hit it and see that green flash.

Deep Thoughts

Here is a picture of my Johnny contemplating which color to dye his Easter Egg.

If life were that simple. Thanks for all of your happy comments friends!

Saturday, April 26, 2008

Do you ever wonder why life is the way it is? The good the bad how we handle it or don't. You know our lives started with an empty cup. All of our experiences in life were put into the cup and they don't come out. All we can do is stir it around and make the best of what we have in our cup. Ponder that, because I am.

I didn't run a marathon today because of a stress fracture in my hip. Sucks, just plan sucks!

B is 42 and a dead cat?

Oh yes Brian turned 42 today that young lover of mine. I just love that I am 5 years younger than him. Thanks to my dear friend Mia we were able to go out and have a nice dinner at Stoney Creek. He would eat meat and potatoes for the rest of his life if he could.

Now to the dead cat story. It was the type of smell that takes your breath away. I opened the garage door and nearly passed out. I thought what the heck, I checked everywhere sniffing around the fridge and freezer. It was all over. So typical me went back inside and said oh well.

Brian comes home from work and it is chaos as usual. I'm doing this he's doing that. Forgetting about the odor I swiftly open garage door. Oh crap !( no much worse than that ).

I turn to B and say

What do you think it is?

A dead cat.

Shut up!

No really I saw it.

Which one?
(Let me give some back ground, we have no cats never had and never will, so sorry all you cat lovers I can't stand the creatures. I will probably burn in h-e double hockey sticks for that one. But we do have a dog and love her. We have several strays that like our front porch and garage. UGH!)

I think it is the black one.

Seriously? Shut up

Yes hun, under the cabinet.

How do you think it died?

I guess it couldn't get out.

Oh that is so gross, are you going to get it out?

Yeah, get a bag

We go into the garage and I am doing the dry heave thing. I should have clued in on how anxious he was to show me, but not a clue.

A few more steps in and he grabs the cat's tail and throws it at me!

*#!%+*$#8 ...... said I

He then laughs upon me realizing it was Johnny's stuffed animal Blackey (Webkinz)

So gang the awful odor was the grass clippings that were left in the lawn mower, not
A DEAD CAT.

Oh the joys of the Keegan home!

LESSON LEARNED
A. Never trust the birthday boy?
B. Leave the lawn mower outside?
C. Brian will play practical jokes on his family for time and all eternity

I tell it like it is. That is who I am.

I have a handsome husband. Truthfully, I love him.

I am a mother of three boys and one girl. Yes, this was my choice. I love my children, but could do with the mom stuff. Not so good at it.

I have tons more to tell, so check in again.
