I woke up today saying to myself... woman, how are you going to celebrate Columbus Day?
Feeling a close connection to Chris ya know being
50% Italian 25% Polish and 25%Mutt =100% AMERICAN
I felt the need to celebrate this day as all Americans should do.
It started with ...the 5:30am scream...MOM did you see where I put my red folder? I can't find it I have to go my seminary ride is here...light flips on ..have you seen it? UGH.
Round 2....6:15am...MOM can you help me with my project I can't find any current events...Uhhh haven't you heard of the WWW?
Round 3...7:45am....Crap we over slept ...get up get up get up!!!
Now, I was so excited to celebrate this day that I turned to the good ole eHOW to find other ways to celebrate this glorious day.
I chose #5 sounds delicious!
we will do #6 as a family tonight, just after I get done with sewing the costumes and building the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria out of the wood we have in the stored in the garage.
#5
Prepare a dinner based on standard seamen's fare of the 15th century, such as salted fish, beef and pork; olive oil; molasses; cheese; honey; raisins; rice; garlic; almonds and dried legumes
#6
Have the kids stage a skit based on the voyage.
If you to want to test your knowledge of this day here is a link...http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2009/10/remember_your_columbus_history.html

lol I didn't even know it was today! But now I am gonna build a boat or something wonderful like that! (ya right!)
Sounds like my morning! Happy belated Anniversary, by the way. You guys sound as sentimental as us... 15 years will do that, huh.
ps. I love that temple!!!
Well since we home school I was on top of this one this year... lol. We have been drying apples, pears, grapes and bananas. So while we did our work and crafts on this great explorer we ate lots of dried fruit and had nuts too. Good luck on those costumes. :)
Man...you know how to clebrate just about any holiday don't you? You what I did? I skipped the usual lunch time walk to the mailbox, aka...no exercise for the day :)
Didn't even know it was Columbus Day until I put the fact that there was an empty mailbox and the 1st grade artwork together!
